The Ripple Effect of Victimization: How Restorative Justice Can Calm the Waters. Dona Cadman and Supriya Deas.

The Ripple Effect of Victimization: How Restorative Justice Can Calm the Waters. Dona Cadman and Supriya Deas.

On November 14, 2013, the Ottawa Restorative Justice Network hosted an event at Ottawa City Hall.

Dona Cadman, ex-MP and Supriya Deas speak about their long journey toward healing, hope and peace through the process of Restorative Justice.

Dona had a son Jesse, 16, who was stabbed to death by Deas’s son, Isaac, in a random beating and stabbing in Surrey, BC. Twenty years later, in a meeting facilitated by staff from Langley’s Community Justice Initiatives’ (CJI’s) Victim Offender Mediation Program, the two moms spoke again. From this meeting, a journey began, and the two moms came to Ottawa and speak about the process that led to forgiveness and redemption.
