Although the ORJN has been in existence for a number of years, participation has somewhat dwindled. We’ve spend the last year developing an Action Plan with exciting initiatives to work on. Accordingly, the ORJN has decided to hold a special re-launch meeting to re-energize the network and re-connect to the RJ community in Ottawa. Tuesday, November 18, 2008 Time: 2:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Location: University of Ottawa – Desmerais Building, Room 4101 Agenda Mike McIntyre, on behalf of the RJ Network of Ottawa will welcome everyone and introduce moderator Ernie Tannis. (1 minute) Ernie Tannis will welcome everyone to “Humanizing Justice” and will review what will take place: speakers Ottawa Police Chief Vernon White and Peggy Land, then break into small groups to experience mock restorative circles, and then come back into the larger group for questions and comments. Introduce Ottawa Police Chief Vern White. (10 minutes) Ottawa Police Chief Vern White will speak about Restorative Justice. (15 minutes) Ernie will introduce Peggy Land. (1 minute) Peggy Land will speak. (15 minutes) Ernie will ask people to proceed into Circles with their chairs (the numbers will be posted around the room and perhaps each row could be directed to a particular Circle number). Monday, November 19, 2007 – Facing the Questions 6:45 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Ottawa City Hall – Jean Pigott Hall Agenda Gary Nelson will welcome everyone and introduce Rita Celli. (1 minute) Rita will welcome everyone to the Ottawa Launch of Restorative Justice Week and introduce the topic “Facing the Questions”. This is a town hall style meeting and participation (questions and comments) is encouraged from everyone. (1 minute) Rita will introduce Mayor Larry O’Brien to say a few words and to proclaim Restorative Justice Week in Ottawa. (2 – 3 minutes) Rita will introduce Ottawa Police Chief Vernon White. (1 minute) Chief Vern White will speak about Restorative Justice. (15 minutes) Rita will invite comments from the audience. Let the town hall begin!
